Present a one-day MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISORY DEVELOPMENT DAYheld on FRIDAY, 16TH MAY 2008 at THE PINES HOTEL, Facilitator For The Day JOHN J OLIVER, OBE Are you interested in developing your managerial and supervisory skills? Then apply to take part in this unique Management and Supervisory Development Day. The Hotel Services TAG have secured the services of JOHN J OLIVER, OBE, to facilitate the day. John, author of “The Team Enterprise Solution” and “Growing Your Own Heroes” has directly overseen three organisational transformations. The first, Leyland Trucks changed from an unprofitable truck maker into the most cost-effective operation in Europe in less than three years. The second, Runshaw College transformed from an average FE provider to the “Nations no 1“ eleven years in a row. The third, a business support agency, moved from liquidation to best practice in three years. John has over the past fifteen years worked with many other companies seeking to make the best of their employees, including Warburtons, Pirelli, James Walker, Grampian Police and Liverpool City Council. John also ran a similar exercise for Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and helped develop “THE BLACKPOOL WAY”. The Trust has eagerly pursued the philosophy with some areas, noticeably the Facilities Division, excelling. He will talk about the very simple principles which underpin this exciting and rewarding approach. John currently works with Lancaster University on the Northern Leadership Academy, looking at how to improve Leadership in the north. Other speakers include: CATHERINE LOFTUS, Organisational Development Coach, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and VANESSA NEWTON, Quality Assurance Manager, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The event is aimed at First Line Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders with an interest in developing their leadership potential. The cost of attending the conference is £100.00 per person. This includes attendance at the conference, course handouts, coffee/tea and bacon roll on arrival, mid morning coffee/tea and Danish, buffet lunch and afternoon tea/coffee and cake. M61 – Junction 8 – The Chorley turn off (coming from Manchester, Bolton). Turn left off slip road; carry on until you come to a large roundabout. (The Hartwood Hotel will be facing you). Turn left at the roundabout (A6) heading towards Preston/Whittle-le-Woods. Carry on for approx 2½ miles and the Pines Hotel is on your right, just before a mini roundabout. M6 – Junction 28 – The Leyland turn off. Whether coming from a North or Southbound direction, turn right off the slip road, through a set of traffic lights, carry on for approx 1½ miles and at the 3rd roundabout turn right and we are immediately on the left. M6 – Junction 29 – Preston South turn off (heading Northbound). Come off the slip road and go straight across at the junction (A6 Chorley), where you will come to a large roundabout, turn right and follow the signs for Chorley A6, the Novotel will be on your immediate left.
