Expected Standards of Accommodation.
NHS Estates Executive Issue EPL (97) 8
Some of these documents were issued several years ago, some more recently, each referring to the Management of Residential Accommodation. They incorporate a number of very serious Issues. If ignored, these issues can have very serious implications for your Trust and can cause disruption within the recruitment process. It is essential that Trusts take notice of these issues if they are to progress Management and Service provision to a level that satisfies the needs of residents whilst maximising value for money.
Are you aware of your responsibilities concerning:
1996 Housing Act
Status of Tenants
Rental Charges
Vacant possession
The Structure of this ACCOMMODATION STUDY DAY is designed to update you on these issues and to help you explore alternative forms of provision and systems available to aid the Management of the Service. It will offer delegates the chance to discuss the issues and determine the direction required in establishing the way forward for their Trust.
The Study Day will feature a tour of the Accommodation provided for Rochdale Infirmary and give delegates the chance to establish contacts with Service Providers and Advisors.
This one-day course is designed for NHS staff responsible for the day-to-day management of RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION such as Accommodation Officers and Assistants, and Facilities Managers with general responsibility for Management of this service
The cost of attending the day is £100.00 per person. This includes attendance on the training day, all course information; coffee/tea on arrival, mid morning coffee/tea and biscuits, buffet lunch and dessert, tour of Accommodation at Rochdale Infirmary, and afternoon tea/coffee.
If you would like to attend, please complete and return the application form as soon as possible.
We are expecting this course to be over-subscribed

Chris is founder and director of Support Services Solutions Limited. Prior to the creation of the company, Chris worked for 22 years in the operational and strategic management of NHS Facilities, specifically managing soft FM services including management of accommodation. During his time with the NHS, Chris designed and developed numerous computerised systems to aid the management of the services he covered. He specifically designed an Accommodation Management tool in response to NHS loss of crown immunity and the ensuing problems and challenges this caused to residence management. The first version of the system was hughly successful and was made available to other NHS Trusts throughout the Yorkshire region. A system user group was formed and is still going strong to date. The system now has moved on considerably and bears little resemblance to the original other than it still encompasses and supports the ethos of residential operations and management.
